Here is a great story we heard recently after we posted a poll onto Facebook, “Do you think best before date makes a difference to the chocolate taste or quality?”
One of our longstanding customers Michael Greig got in contact with us and told us his story. 8 years ago Michael did his first bike ride from Huddersfield to Brighton. Every year since then he has done a number of bikes rides for charity, in particular, raising funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Bike Rides
- 5 years ago Michael and 8 others did a bike ride from London to Huddersfield in 24 hours and raised over £8,000.
- 3 years ago on May, 24 of them cycled from Paris to Huddersfield via Blackpool raising around £30,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

- Last year in May they did a 520 mile cycle ride from Huddersfield and back via Dortmund, Germany over 2.5 days raising £11,000.

In June 2018 they will be doing a 500 mile round trip to Huddersfield via Bridlington, Skegness, Matlock and Blackpool in 5 days. They will be raising money for The Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Prostate Cancer and Marie Curie.
How Approved Food Contributed
Approved Food donated a range of products to help them on each of their journeys: cup of soup, drinks, crisps, Mars Bars, Twix, Snickers, Star (boost) bars as well as other chocolates, wine gums, midget gems and jelly babies.
Michael Greig wrote about the products we donated: “Those chocolate bars we had for our charity bike rides in the past have been perfect, never even looked at the date on them, 6 of us cycled 500 miles on your chocolate bars and jelly sweets……..thank you very much!!!!!”

“Everything we received was in perfect condition and every single item was consumed on the ride!!”
What a fantastic achievement by Michael and his team and for such a great cause. We are happy that we were able to contribute in a small way and look forward to helping again this year.
