CHARITY: Into Scotland with the legs feeling the strain

Alan ‘Booby’ Boothroyd is sleeping soundly in a Scottish bed tonight after crossing the border this afternoon. The action man is still on course to reach John O’Groats on Wedneasday 17 April, but the going is getting mightily tough.

Yesterday’s 50-plus miles from Leyburn to Penrith took it’s toll and today was just as tough.

It’s not surprising after 12 days on the road that ‘Booby’ is feeling the pain. As he arrived in Lockerbie at the end of the 45 miles into Scotland he tweeted, “I do not know how my legs will run tomorrow.”

“So tired but Lanark awaits,” he added. “I was far from awesome. One foot in front of the other. Yesterday took it out of me.”

But this indomitable man with a spirit and resolve you cannot buy will not lie down and die. He’s got 8 days, around 320 miles to run and more iced baths to take and pasta to eat than is normal. But this fella is far from your average guy.

It’s now more than ever that he needs your support.

We are getting to what the pundits would call the business end of this challenge. It’s where the support of you all and the knowledge that the fundraising tally for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance is rising will push those tired legs the extra miles.

The hills were a were bit chilly on Monday

You can be the inspiration he needs!

So send him your tweets to @alanboothroyd1 – urge him on!

If you are on route tell him to ‘keep going’ and take a photo to claim a £50 Approved Food credit. Just send it to james@approvedfood.co.uk and we will make a donation of £25 to Alan’s fund too in your name.

And last but not least, sponsor the man! Sponsor him CLICK HERE

This 52-year-old is putting his body on the line for a great cause. He’s running the equivalent of 2 marathons a day for 20 straight says. Surely that’s worth a few quid??

It’s lonely out there! And a long way to go.
The Huddersfield Examiner did a great piece on Alan’s appearance at Saturday’s football
Crossing the border – he should really be running in a kilt now surely?
