CHARITY: Let’s All Push Alan Boothroyd across the line

The support for Alan ‘Booby’ Boothroyd on the internet continues to grow as people are starting to say, ‘He can actually do this.’

At the end of day 17 of 20, as he reached Inverness, Booby tweeted, “I’m so knackered physically mentally and emotionally. Roll on Wednesday!”

It’s getting seriously tough out there and this is where our support needs to escalate and push him across that finish line on Wednesday.

The Twitter retweets, Facebook shares and general goodwill for the 52-year-old’s efforts show people understand the strength of character, sheer bloody mindedness and selflessness that are seeing Booby over the Scottish hills.

Andrew Gale, the Yorkshire cricket captain has been moved to twitter auction off the shirt he wore in the Champions League t20 tournament in South Africa last Autumn – if interested follow him @GaleyLad. Galey’s teammates have also been fantastic throughout the challenge in RTing messages of support.

Gale described Booby’s performance as a ‘great effort’ and later commented, “Got to do your bit. 40 marathons in 20 days is a ridiculous effort. I couldn’t even do one!”

Approved Food customers are vying for one of five £150 credit vouchers for posting their support – again if interested follow us on @ApprovedFood or on facebook.

It would be great to see the Yorkshire TV stations showing more of an interest, but it’s obvious the public are right behind what will be an incredible achievement.

Most people undertaking a 20-day charity event would start to relax with only three days remaining. The back of the task would have been broken and the end would be in sight.

Not so for Alan Boothroyd.

The last three days will be his sternest test as he runs the three stages from Inverness to John O’Groats where he’s scheduled to cross the finish line late of Wednesday afternoon.

It takes a lot to dedication to tackle a single marathon.

To still be running the equivalent of six over Scottish hills before he can claim he’s cracked it is an unenviable final chapter of a ridiculously heroic story.

Please get behind him over the next few days as a crazy man achieves great things for a wonderful cause.
