Chilli Con Carne Recipe

Travel to Texas with this chilli con carne recipe using a range of products sold at Approved Food.

Ingredients:
  • 1 Onion
  • Mincemeat (Approved Food meat hamper £15)
  • Don Mario Chopped Tomatoes in Tomato Juice 400g (5 for £1.00 or £0.25 each RRP £0.69)
  • Bisto Hob Top Made Simple Chilli Con Carne 55g (3 for 99p or £0.39 each RRP £1.00) or Bonners Finest Mild Chilli Cooking Sauce 500g (£0.99 RRP £1.75.
  • Beans (optional)
  • Tasty Bite Organic Long-Grain Rice 250g (£0.99 RRP £1.75)
Method:

Add sunflower oil to a frying pan on medium heat and add the onion. Cook for 5 minutes or until soft, stirring occasionally. Next, add the mincemeat to a pan and break up the meat using a spoon. Cook till browned over. Add the chopped tomatoes and stir till combine. Dissolve the chilli con carne paste in boiling water and pour over the meat (if using the Bonners Finest Mild Chilli Cooking Sauce just pour over the meat). If using beans add them to the pot. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally. Finally, prepare rice as described on the packet.

Plate up: add the rice and pour over the chilli con carne sauce. Make sure the food is piping hot before serving. *Leftover chilli con carne can be frozen but make sure it is fully cooled beforehand *.
