Ins + Outs – Approved Food Carriers

We have two carrier’s who deliver our parcels: DPD and UKMail. This easy to follow guide will provide you with the ins and outs of each carrier and what to do to track and receive your parcel safely and conveniently.

*All the carriers require a signature UNLESS you contact Approved Food to enable your parcel to be delivered without a signature OR you go on the carrier’s website and say leave in a safe place or with a neighbour. *

*It is best to contact the customer service team at Approved Food rather than going directly to the carriers*.

UK Mail has many features which make it easy to manage your delivery, check them out here:

  • To contact UK Mail go to the contact us page at the bottom of the website. If you would like to talk to their advisor please call them on 02476 937770. They are open Monday to Friday 7am – 8pm, Saturday 8am – 12pm. Please note that you will require your consignment number and delivery postcode;
  • For evening deliveries there is another way to track your parcel. See on the ‘manage my delivery’ page;
  • Track your parcel using the ‘manage my delivery’ tab;
  • UK Mail will give you a 1 hour delivery window;
  • You can select to receive a “You’re next’ notification” when the driver is one stop away, typically 5-15 minutes before the delivery. This is available either from the link on the 1 hour delivery window notification or you can opt for this notification on their ‘Manage my delivery’ page;
  • If you are not at home, the driver will give you a calling card and you will be notified if you gave a mobile number or email. The driver may have put it in a safe place or given it to a neighbour:

*The calling card may not contain the correct information, in this case, please call Approved Food*

If the driver could not place it in a safe place or give it to a neighbour or it needs to be signed for, it will be sent back to the depot. The card and notification will direct you to our ‘Manage my delivery’ page, where using the ‘Change it’ options, you can select your preferred option. You can choose to collect from the depot (when collecting your parcel from a depot, please ensure your item is collected one working day after you received your calling card), have it redelivered and left in a safe place or with a neighbour.

Finally

Before we end we would like to tell you more about Approved food and what we stand for. We are a company who is helping to resolve a big issue in our society: Food Waste. In 2017 7.3 tonnes of food was wasted in UK homes. To tackle this food waste issue we at Approved Food are selling products close to or just past the best before date at a reduced price for you. This means you can save up to 70% on your food shop. And at the same time, you are helping the environment. One question people ask is what is the difference between best before and use by date? Use by date is about food safety where food should not be consumed after this date. This date is popular on meat and dairy products. However, the best before date is about food quality and food past the best before date is safe to consume.

If you have any questions regarding food waste, best before dates keep tuned as many more blog posts regarding these topics will be coming shortly. If you would like to support us on the food waste mission tell your friends and family about Approved Food and come and grab a bargain.
