An online-only retailer specialising in selling discounted products all-year-round has reported record sales on the first official ‘White Wednesday’– introduced to give consumers access to the Black Friday deals missed by the issues caused during last weekend’s unprecedented web traffic.
UK based Approved Food say that cheap chic shoppers viewed over half a million deals on the website throughout the day – an increase of over 100% on an average days trading, giving the country’s largest online-only retailer of short-dated and residual stock food and drinks its most successful day of sales since its launch in 2008.
According to Approved Food Founder Dan Cluderay, Nouvelle Toilet Rolls were the most popular bargain, with more than 10,000 units shipped across the UK. The majority of the UK’s savvy savers were online in the evening with sales reaching their peak between 8pm and 10-30pm.
Dan Cluderay said: “White Wednesday was a huge success, with consumers making the most of bargains including multi-packs of branded toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets all sold for 1p!
“We offer great deals all year round, but found ourselves inundated with comments from loyal customers who couldn’t access our website on Friday due to the web traffic generated by Black Friday. To make sure no one missed out, we decided to launch our very own White Wednesday with deals specifically targeted at those wanting to top up on household staples ahead of Christmas.”
