Founded by pioneering Napa growers Joe and Alice Heitz in 1961, the estate is now run by daughter Kathleen Heitz-Myers and is in finer fettle than ever before. Joe and Alice helped Heitz grow into cult status and along the way championed the cause of Cabernet grown in the Napa valley
Top quality Cabernet Sauvignon fruit is used which is vinified in steel tanks, aged in large wood barrels for a year, followed by two and a half years in oak barriques.
"This is very fine and not dense or heavy at all. Red berry fruit, sweet tobacco, a touch of gravel below, all delivered in juicy, sleek and fresh style that nevertheless could only be from Napa. With air notes of bay, blueberry and graphite bring a secondary wave of interest! Llovely, pure and uplifting Napa."
