Discount Retailer Reveals Which Brits Grabbed The Biggest Bargains Of 2014

Approved Food is one of the UK’s largest online-only discount retailers and in 2014 shipped around 114,000 orders to tens of thousands of customers across the country with a combined saving of more than £8.1million.

While England took the savvy shopper top spot with nearly 35,000 English bargain hunters spending £3.75million on discounted goods and saving a massive £7.37million on the RRP, Wales came second with savings in excess of £424k – an average £220 per customer.

Scotland came a very close third, saving more than £421k on more than 6,000 orders; with Northern Ireland falling short on the bargain stakes with the fewest number of orders and savings of just £14,773.

According to Approved Food founder Dan Cluderay the business enjoyed its best ever year to date, with more shoppers than ever looking to retailers to deliver value for money all year round.

Dan said: “We Brits love a bargain, and in 2014 we saw a real shift in shoppers spending habits; with more people than ever turning to discount supermarkets and online retailers. People want value for money all year round, so that’s what we offer.

“We now have in excess of 150,000 registered customers and, although England has taken the lead for online savings through Approved Food this year, it’s really apparent now that people across the country are looking to save wherever possible!

“We’re looking forward to working with more customers in more regions across the UK in 2015.”

In 2014 Approved Food had more than 150,000 registered customers based across Britain who saved in excess of £8million* on discounted goods throughout the year.
