Spicy Sausage Pasta Recipe

Travel to Italy with this spicy sausage pasta recipe using a range of products sold at Approved Food.

Ingredients:
  • Flora Sunflower Oil Cooking Spray 200ml (£0.99 RRP £2.00)
  • Sausage (Approved Food meat hamper £15)
  • 1 Onion
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp Chill powder (Santa Maria Peruvian chilli and lime 50g £0.99 each RRP £1.99) (Santa Maria Ancho style chilli pepper 46g £0.99 each RRP £1.99) or Atkins and Potts Mexican Chipotle Chilli Sauce 180g (£0.99 RRP £2.95)
  • 400g chopped tomatoes (Don Mario Peeled Plum Tomatoes In Tomato Juice 400g 2 for £1.00 or £0.59 each RRP £0.69) (Don Mario Chopped Tomatoes In Tomato Juice 400g 2 for £1.00 or £0.59 each RRP £0.69)
  • 300g Pasta (Napolina Fusilli 500g £0.99 each RRP £1.29) (Napolina Penne 500g £0.99 RRP £1.28) (Garofalo Motori Pasta 500g £0.99 RRP £4.00)
Method:

Place a pot of water to boil, add the pasta and cook from pack instructions. Cut up the sausages. Add sunflower oil to a frying pan on medium heat and when hot add the sausages, fry until cooked through. Chop up an onion and crush the garlic, add to the sausages. Cook until soft. Add the chilli powder and chopped tomatoes (if using plum tomatoes chop them up first) and bring to the boil. After it has boiled, turn down the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. When pasta is cooked, drain and add the pasta to the frying pan. Stir till pasta is covered.

Finally, serve with cheese, bread and or salad. Make sure the food is piping hot before serving. *Leftover pasta mixture can be frozen but make sure it is fully cooled beforehand *.
